Contractor Bid & Margin Guard
Know what the job costs. Know the minimum you can bid.

The problem it solves
A bid can feel right and still leave you short once overhead and change orders show up. Confusing markup with margin makes that gap harder to spot. This workbook puts the real cost and minimum bid in front of you before the job, so you do not discover the missing margin after it.
A 30% markup on $10,000 of costs gives you about a 23% margin. If your target margin is 30%, your bid is costs ÷ 0.70. The workbook handles the margin calculation for your quotes.
How it works
- Enter your costs and overhead. Put the costs of the job and your overhead into the workbook.
- Set your target margin. Decide how much of the bid needs to remain after costs.
- Get your minimum bid for every quote. See a warning when your quote falls below your margin floor, before you commit.
Seven sheets. One connected estimate.
- Job costs
- Bring the costs of the job together to see what it will take to deliver.
- Overhead
- Include overhead in your estimate so it is covered by your bid.
- Target margin / margin guard
- Set your target margin and flag quotes that fall below your margin floor.
- Bid summary
- See your job cost and the minimum bid needed to meet your target margin.
- Change orders
